Top activities in St. Lucia

Hike the Pitons

Climbing the Pitons—twin volcanic peaks that make up a dedicated UNESCO World Heritage Site—is one of the most popular things to do in St. Lucia. Most visitors opt to hike Gros Piton, the easier of the two peaks to navigate safely. The entire trek takes about four to five hours and is a moderate to difficult hike. Along the way, you’ll soak in lots of lush foliage, birds, and epic views.

Bri’s insider tip: Though Gros Piton is the bigger of the two peaks, it’s actually easier to climb than Petit Piton. A climb up Petit Piton requires special permission and guides. If you decide to hike the more popular Gros Piton, you’ll also need a local guide—be sure to bring cash to tip your guide, and start the hike early to avoid the midday sun!

Ziplining

There are numerous adventure parks in St. Lucia that offer ziplining and other aerial sports. This is the perfect destination to try flying through a redwood forest on a zipline.

Snorkel or scuba dive

With its clear blue seas, St. Lucia is a fantastic place for snorkeling or scuba diving. A multitude of marine life can be found in these waters, from exotic fish to seahorses and sea turtles. Underwater adventurers will also discover vibrant coral reefs and fascinating shipwrecks.

St. Lucia’s national dish is green figs and salt fish. In St. Lucia, the “figs” are actually local green bananas that are prepared by being boiled in water with salt when unripe. The dish is also made with plenty of herbs and spices.
