Bali Travel Guide

Bali is an amazing destination adored by many. Visiting Bali gives you the opportunity to have whatever type of experience you’re seeking. From cultural sites and vibrant markets to snorkeling and relaxing on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Bali is a great place to enjoy a little bit of everything.

Best time to visit

The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which typically spans from April to October. However, Bali has a pleasant, tropical climate year-round, meaning there is truly no bad time of year to visit.

Top regions to visit

Bri’s insider tip:

Bali is full of surprises around every corner and there is so much beauty to experience and be a part of. My advice would be to stay outside of the center of Ubud (it really is a crazy, chaotic area with too many people navigating a really small area), but still visit it and see it for yourself.

Ubud

Ubud was made famous by the book/movie Eat, Pray, Love and ever since people have been flocking here to find that inner peace and spiritual connection. While Ubud is now more popular, there’s still a special experience to be had and if you plan it right, you will be able to find your own magic here. Known for its greenery and scenic rice terraces, a visit here to this area offers plenty of arts and culture, delicious food, nature, and gorgeous accommodations.

Seminyak

If you’re looking for a great beach destination in Bali that will afford you the opportunity to be close to the action but just far enough removed to enjoy a quiet nights sleep, near a host of fabulous restaurants, and easily accessible to some of the islands hottest beach clubs, Seminyak is the right destination for you. Here, you’ll find many luxurious villas and resorts, and it’s where many expats call home. While it’s not the best beach for swimming, if you like to surf this will be a great spot.

Uluwatu

Uluwatu is located on the southwestern tip of Bali's Bukit Peninsula and offers a stunning blend of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and world-class surfing. Known for its dramatic cliffs and ocean views, Uluwatu is home to the iconic Uluwatu Temple. The area is also home to pristine beaches like Padang Padang and Bingin that attract surfers from around the globe.

Lombok and the Gili Islands

If you’re looking for a small island with no motorized transport where you can spend most of your time in or on the water, then Gili Islands are for you. This is the perfect destination to relax, escape from tourists, and appreciate the beauty that surrounds you.

Top activities in Bali

Surfing in Uluwatu

Lovers of beaches, surfing, and the sun will be right at home in the south of Bali. These beaches have some of the world’s most famous surf breaks, and people stay here expecting to spend most of their time in the water.

Day trip to Nusa Lembongan

The tropical island of Nusa Lembongan is just a short boat ride off the main island of Bali. A day trip here offers another stunning beach, a mangrove forest, and snorkeling, where you may even see some manta rays up close.

Uluwatu Temple

One of Bali’s six key temples, this is one of the most popular spots for those looking to see a slice of Balinese culture. You can also watch a traditional dance performance here.

Sunrise trekking on Mount Batur

A sunrise trek to the top of the volcano of Mount Batur is a great way to get in some exercise and see a breathtaking sunrise you won’t forget. You’ll hike to the summit in the early morning hours, where you’ll witness the sunrise over the surrounding landscape, including nearby Volcanic peaks and Lake Batur.

Cycle through the rice terraces

Pedal along lush green fields where you’ll see traditional villages, friendly locals, and views of terraced landscapes. A trip through the rice terraces will allow you to appreciate Bali’s agricultural heritage in serene surroundings.
